I am somewhat buoyed by the middle-finger salute given to SB and his childish assertions. First it was Auckland Council saying, yeh, nah, we know what our city needs in terms of speed limits, go back to playing with your matchbox cars. And THEN, local councils deciding to keep maori wards and indicating they may potentially 'disobey' with regard to referendums. I mean, what would the repurcussions actually be? His transport shopping list is a joke - I'm not sure he understands the concept of design and how much work is involved before those big diggers arrive on scene.

Luxon will last the distance because he has Key on his side and anyone else would be reluctant to be PM lest it draw too much attention to the inadequacies of the whole lot of them. Willis is shockingly absent from any scrutiny about, like ya know, financial stuff.

It suits the coalition gangstas to have Mr Blobby (spineless Luxon) as their courier.

The palpable wairua at Ngāruawāhia yesterday should have given Seymour & his Axis buddies pause for thought - Aotearoa is not as maleable as they think.

According to one Councillor, the potential repercussions are:

"The threat of commissioners. Also possibly an inquiry into the election itself and whether it's still valid."

I personally would expect the full force of the Luxon/Brown bully pulpit + Sean Plunkett + Hobsons Pledge + Jordan Williams + New Groups popping up + Attack Ads etc to target them too.

"Aotearoa is not as maleable as they think."

May it be so.

Deploying comissioners to enforce central government will seems the polar opposite of the “locals know best” mantra that is rolled out when it suits. Seems it's only “locals know best” when that “best” aligns with the CoC whims.

It would cast serious doubt over the functioning of the fundamental apparatus of local government if they were to go down such a draconian route.

Yes, it would make for some interesting news.

Wow MT 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Bring on the "petty"!!

Sadly of ALL the egregious things you highlighted, one is of particular potential relevance this week - Police & mental health. I read that a child was killed in Christchurch by a person who had been removed BY POLICE from another address where they were causing trouble, and taken BY POLICE to the address where the murder took place. Now presumably the address he was taken TO was his normal residence, but MY GOD! 🥹 I have known, & know now, wonderful caring competent people in the Police, BUT NONE OF THEM have had depth of knowledge in recognising mental health issues that could devolve into imminent danger to others. IF there were enough trained mental health professionals, and IF they were routinely co-deployed for these incidents, would the Police members in question have been alerted to the danger of imminent harm by this individual? Of course we can't know for sure, but there would have been a chance at least that the perpetrator would have got support in an obvious crisis of some sort, and a child would be alive today. 🫂 I cannot imagine how the Police personnel involved are feeling right now 🥹

As for Himiona Parāone (SB in te reo) - what a little prat, but a dangerous one 🤬 and hard agree about Chris Pihopa - Lux-flakes will be lucky to survive til the next election & CB may be evil but he's not stupid 🤷🏾‍♀️ With all this overseas tripping by members of the Coalition of Cockwombles, perhaps they recognise they are in serious danger of only having one term to use all the perks?

I'm not fluent in te reo, but the Tangihanga coverage has reminded me of how we could move forward in Aotearoa without all of these racists ruining the opportunities to do so. I've noticed organisations quietly ADDING te reo at every opportunity to give the middle finger to the govt push to use it LESS! so I'm doing my bit where possible i.e. Kuini not Queenie for the new Maori monarch ...

Cindy, thank you for what you say and I'll be honest. That incident was on my mind and I wondered whether to include it, but the tragedy of it all can be too overwhelming, so I merely hint for the most part. (It was in Hamilton I think)

But you are 100% on the money and it's people that will continue to be hurt, but a majority might not be able to connect the dots so explicitly as you have laid out so articulately above, Cindy!

And I agree with you about everything and it may be that change can only happen at the roots now. ❤️

🙋🏽‍♀️Unless there is more than one tragedy, the one I mention is in Christchurch. Details have only just started to come out, with no doubt more to come. Yes, it is hard to know whether to highlight these things, but talking about the downstream effects of these short sighted policies is vital at some point - because I am so angry about it, it was on top of mind for me 🥹

I understand completely and yep, it was in my mind too as I wrote the last one so I am grateful for you to bring it out. I don't know if I could or had the will to write it as eloquently and yet with sufficient light as you did, dear one 🕊️ but indeed real life impacts are not theoretical, and if we think about them, possibly too sad to bear.

Don't think I've ever come across a bunch of more brain dead corrupt people in all my life.

Interesting to see local bodies beginning to fight back with Maori representation and local speed reductions. Long may it continue.

Indeed.

The populist way seems to be to appeal to a large enough (and vocal) group so that they can indeed sideline the "woke" and those to which populist slogans and approaches do not work.

I got an email from Simeon, a reply to one where I questioned raised crossings being removed (replaced by paint) from motorway on ramp upgrades near a school (& also between school & community sport centre) in response to his directions and the reply was 'Good to see'.

It was the Royal Road Project in this Bike Auckland post. The school is where the legend on their map is, a badminton and sports hall on the corner of the Royal Road (uncontrolled) slip lane Southbound onto SH16

It's so heartbreaking to be honest, but I understand why they think this is "woke" fantasy stuff. I understand it in terms of - different people come from such immensely different psychological and empathetic maps...Seeing that website and the photos, his response is even more overwhelmingly pitiful.
