The most interesting aspect of the polls is the history of preferred PM at the same stage in the electoral cycle.

Luxon = 22%

Adern = 44%

Key. = 48%

Clark. = 37%

Pretty telling

Great data point, John.

In my mind, he was already gone as of October 2024 - hence my definitive: "Au Revoir, PM"

i.e. Luxon is a gone burger before the next election.

I personally think the calculation for his backers and party now is do they keep him longer to be the face of unpopular policies, and if so, for how much longer.

I didn't realise Key was more popular than Ardern.

Wow - interesting that.

Thanks Helen for pointing out the obvious, and I guess workn down in wellywood its hard to eat like many of us....with thought out and budgeted meals........I have noticed over the decades..............they tend to pork out a tad ...these politicians who serve us............but ole Shane, he is loud and proud, and the shirts are getting tighter. I have been there.......but now a pensioner, I space out the big feeds, and i don't have the annual pre Waitangi Day kaimoana boil up to send me to the gym for months to lose what I have gained. All those calories. I guess Matua Shaney Jones problem is he can't keep his mouth shut, or keeps opening it to change feet, or from scallops , to mussells, to paua fritters................and it's catching up with him. Shirt size and appearance wise. I would love to be a fly on the wall with his chats with his rangatira............I wonder if Shane will lead the party when Winnie is gone......if he ever does go..........doesn't the bach at Sth Whananaki call, fishing, endless combing the hair on the porch in the breeze.................as annoying as he is......he has got hair I envy and will kinda miss him maybe............

Part of me and purely for the fun of it..........I would like to say he works for The Lone Ranger, that bastion of multiple rodeos by his own admission.............but I know tha's not really true. Matua Shane as he likes to refer to hisself.........works for larger and richers bosses than Winnie Te Poo. Who does he really work for, I better read on MT, I just had to stop and make my little joke re the Lone Ranger, I am prone to calling Shaney, Tonto.............so who is Kimosabee? I couldn't resist. Being woke and all, I am bad bad bad.........and not Le Roy Brown.

💜💙Thank goodness for sassy Canadians, cute kittens, & awesome photography eh? On a serious note... Shane Jones WORKS ⁉️😱 Reading about his "influence party" linked to Waitangi & watching him swan around just being obnoxious for years with no plan to help ordinary Kiwis, I have seen him more as a non-humourous court jester (although they did once serve a useful purpose according to something I read recently 🤷) It does appear he is selective in what he supports & pushes - people with deep pockets & ambitions for private ownership/access to conservation land etc. 🤬 But I mean... WOKE BANKS⁉️ Totally an unserious person with too much time on his hands 🤷

Concur. I thought that was a reflection of his IQ but if you look at the entire NZF agenda - they really seem to have taken money from the ideologies we see around right wing governments. This leads me to wonder if Peters will stick with his government - not because he likes them, but because the money is too big, this time.

Alas, I feel that when mortgage interest rates drop and people feel less under the pump, they'll hail it as this CoC's "economic miracle" and all will be forgotten. People in general are very self-serving.
