I shared that vid of Arena on my facebook feed. Didn’t get much feedback on it.
I think people zone out because it’s parliament, and just some MP ranting, raving, boring, or the equivalent to a kindergarten scene. Which most of the time it is…
Whenever I watch parliamentary vids, my partner asks why I’m watching that shit. I tell him I like to be informed, what the CoC’s are doing is criminal, and if he doesn’t care, he should.
He believes it’s a waste of time, as nothing will change. Sadly, I think that is how the majority of NZ thinks.
I understand where he's coming from as I don't think enough people are interested or informed and this is what this govt is relying on. Plus most have enough to deal with in their lives without worrying about what the coalition are getting up to next. The hikoi was a wonderful example of what can be achieved with the sharing of information and organization.
Arena was great. It's certainly very worrying......on top of everything else that's going on. I'm sure this govt will be hoping that over the holiday break all will be forgotten.
Both Bishop and van Veldon supported this development company taking legal action against Kāinga Ora not agreeing to one of their developments several months before the last election. When it was pointed out to Bishop that Winton had donated money to National before he gave his support as opposition housing spokesman he claimed he was not aware of this. Plausible?
It was quite extraordinary how they supported a private development company over KO - but also KO pointed out that Winton didn't even bother consulting with local bodies as part of their application.
Clearly they were just waiting for a corruption government to pave the way - to the flood plain lands they want to build on.
It is corruption - there is no doubt about it, in my own opinion.
However, what they rely on is plausible deniability ie. I'm not having an affair, you just saw my shoes outside the door because I had to go in and bake a cake at that hour.
That, plus distraction and culture wars.
I don't know about the head of Winton but I know that former National MPs are on the Board, and at one point, was picked for the Fast-Track advisory panel - that part may have changed (I haven't looked it up)

Most of the things you say that people are dealing with ARE, in fact, Govt inflicted.
Ironic aye.
Correct 100%

Plausible - if this is la-la land.

Atlas objectives are being blatantly pursued by the government and their band of merry thieves MT. Might be depressing but the fight must go on.
Certainly looks and smells like corruption - the level of straight out bribery by corporates/private business via party 'donations' has to be stopped!
Is the head of Winton the same man who has been prosecuted in Australia for similar skulduggery?
So with this government, you pay a substantial donation and receive millions in return. Is this not corruption at the highest level?

I live in Manurewa thanks for the heads up on blatant cronyism. Ardmore has a very low water table round the Kings Garden Centre.
You're welcome. In "Knives out for Kainga Ora" it was obvious to me Bishop is Winton's man.
He's loathsome and one of the most powerful Ministers in the government. They don't care. They just genuinely don't
