Putting my hopeful hat on, a future govt might not be able to reverse purchases etc already made, but they can change the rules about such things as sending profits off shore as opposed to spending them here, & numbers of days/weeks/months a property needs to be owner/occupied - there has to be a way to signal to potential buyers that the rules will change with a change of govt, which could discourage them in the first place (much like the oil co's aren't keen on buying drilling rights knowing a different govt will change the rules 🤷)
They are prepared for this and are structuring contracts in a way that will penalize us if we rescind I suspect. Also once the regulatory standards bill is passed, and actions are taken under that - future govts are likely to face legal action and or financial risks.

But if you can imagine the next govt will be trying to fix things, run a public service, getting attacked by Taxpayers Union and NZME etc while dealing with controversial topics like this? The house is empty bar the caretaker, and the row of shops is mostly untennanted. Other shops, owned by another foreign investor, now sit empty because that owner will not consider a cheaper lease. Too many "dead" shops. This is how small towns die.

Me thinks the goals are remarkably similar to what our Coalition is promoting - "governance structures that attract investment by ensuring rule of law, economic freedom, and regulatory efficiency.” i.e. an unhindered environment ready for exploitation.
This govt has been like the US insanity without being big and loud. It's just doing the same shit more quietly. It truly feels like everything decent left has been completely under attack or on the chopping block. I am so frustrated with the lack of opposition giving people something better and verbalising it.
I feel like if they don't start getting on with that now they won't have a chance to get people on board with better plans and go through the tough selling of that. Even if people are hating what the govt are doing this time NZ tends to give govt a chance for a second term. I write to MPs, I am a member of a political party. I donate to Labour, Greens and TPM. I go to protests when I can around my own autoimmune health condition which gives me chromic pain, swelling that comes and goes and fatigue and caused me to have to leave a full on profession I loved in my mid 30s, I also look after my mother who has a severe brain injury through the night every night and sometimes during the day too. I also have ageing family and we all pitch in to help each other. I think I am doing enough thanks. I could not manage anymore than this.

I feel that labour needs pushed. If you don't push them they don't progress and forge new ideas and get complacent. I don't like it when they attack possible coalition partners that are viewed as more progressive left and label them as fringe. These parties push for Labour to be more progressive and should be given more respect but they will take that respect anyway eventually because they will earn it. I would rather they all attack the govt of the time and there is so much fodder to go hard on about and annihilate them on.
I kind of feel that centrist voters don't realise they are actually not really that centrist. I view them as moderates who don't like to perceive any extremes going on. If anything it's lack of understanding and education in certain areas that is the problem. Most don't go searching for knowledge as they are too busy. Not enough grown up conversation and discussion on issues that can help our country move forward is a problem. More of that sort of discussion and education can help parties have confidence to go for more progressive policies as people start voicing what they want because they start knowing what they want but also what we all need.
Moderates will always freak out about things they don't know enough about, or if a policy and its reasonings are not explained well.

For me, I always seem to balance things on humanity and a sense of fairness for everyone. And that fairness can mean people need different things. I think appealing to those things in people generally is a key in selling policy too. I feel it's actually the same for people who view themselves as centrists. Things need detailed for them on why something is unfair. When they grasp the understanding on a topic I feel it moves them on an issue more, but most of all it is who will help them economically at end of the day as well. Swing voters between national and labour don't hold ideology high but still can be shown what may or may not be fair.
I honestly think if they are given knowledge on something that seems extreme to them like wealth taxes they can soften, especially if they know it won't hurt them personally in the pocket, or make businesses that provide jobs runaway and they see more benefits from it.
I know I make centrists seem selfish but I don't think that is the case it is more important too busy and I will just vote for who will help me personally out the most and that can be due to many circumstances.
