Just done my submission. It really does seem that the powers of government are up for sale to corporations and rich pricks - we can fight a rear guard action again each of these Bills but we know that they will not listen, so bring on the change of government and/or a revolution!
It feels really dark and I usually stay pretty upbeat despite all the dark news. This is dark.
For a whole year, I've recognised it's the missing piece. But I didn't realise they'd already slipped it in - and the first news was from independent journalist Mick Hall last year.
We can't rely on our media at all and that drives me to a despair that I haven't felt for the whole time I've been covering politics.
🌞😎The "light" is there is now a bunch of people alerting us & sharing resources, & despite being away camping & only reading Dr Bex alert this morn, all this practice in making submissions meant after a bit of quick research I could do it from my tent 💪 HOWEVER I would have included more evidence & arguments if given more time 🤷🏻♀️🤬
They better start building a whole bunch of jails. I'm retired with no dependants now, so I'm quite prepared to suffer 'three hots and a cot' for citizens freedoms.
NRT is on Bluesky and I like them all round as a person. And though I’m too lazy to read them regularly I always trust their insights and opinion. I guess I should have seen this one sooner.
🧐 As I said somewhere, "Unintended consequences" of all the anti-democratic laws & regulations & the way they are being handled, has activated more people & we are getting better informed & better organised. 💪 Will it make much difference 😱 certainly won't if we don't at least TRY to rein them in and/or educate those who don't pay attention to also be more aware 🤷🏻♀️
I saw dr Brex's story about the bill today & typed a submission on the parliament page, I wrote that it threatend freedom of speech & freedom of association (now I think maybe I ment freedom of assembly?)I recommended that the bill bw stooped now, while real existential threats need solving such as climate change & homelessness etc. I partly did the sub to avoid the, for me more physically difficult task of preparing a salard for my lunch.

Fully concur.
OMG!! The totalitarian society is here. Putin and his like have taught Atlas Network and their lackies, this appalling government well!

You rock.

They are building a mega prison as we speak and Luxon previously affirmed - money is no limit when it comes to imprisoning people.
It's not great but there are better ways than letting them take what is left.....
Don’t work too hard on it KSJ 🌻I hope you can still find some peace and quiet tonight
Yep! Boot them out!!
Gonbo!
No Right Turn has an assessment of it and the real problem areas https://norightturn.blogspot.com/2024/11/nationals-tyrannical-foreign.html
Andrew, I really like NRT. Thank you so much for this link.
NRT and Bill Mitchell are my evening reads.
NRT is on Bluesky and I like them all round as a person. And though I’m too lazy to read them regularly I always trust their insights and opinion. I guess I should have seen this one sooner.
I’ll look up Bill Mitchell - thank you again.

Geoffrey - your last part made me laugh. Thank you for adding some levity and thanks for your submission too......I salute my friends here.
Whew, just got my (very brief) submission in. Thanks for alerting us, MT
Thanks Lesley!
Thanks for letting us know MT!!
I've had problems again with submitting. It seems the parliament website does not like Firefox.
Every submission I've done now, had to be redone with Chrome.
Anyone else have this problem?
I haven’t had that issue but will ask around Angela. Have a good night and thank you
Submission done
Legend.
And here I was looking forward to a rest and relax…. 3 hours to go so I guess I’m writing another submission - now. Thanks for the alert Tui.
