Yes he is the most dangerous politician in Aotearoa, but yes he does also have sidekicks aiding and abetting his theft of Māori rights. I’ve watched a bit of select committee work on a number of their obnoxious legislation, and they are consultation with a very small ‘c’ - they have no interest in making things better.

Yes I know you are right, and it's sad, for our children most of all, but really for everyone who cares.

OMG, this is a cracker! Seymour is the most dangerous of men, because he has mastered the art of innocuous. The ultimate distractor and disruptor. The flow of inquiry and challenge is diverted off track by introducing a sideline issue, raising hands in innocent surrender and denial (but look over THERE!!). What possible reason for childish, pendantic behaviour in parliament about 'the rules' unless an opportunity to lead attention away from the uncomfortable.

The basic edict of him and his, is the belief that it is their right to do whatever they want, with whatever resource they want, without interference. Indigenous rights are a thorn in their side, an impediment to an exclusive accumulation of resources, and therefore wealth. Ya know, 'hold' the world, like Atlas?

So, throwing everything they can at dismantling, distrupting the concept of indigenous rights is something they can afford. Politics for them is not about service, it is self-serving.

🙋🏾‍♀️Once again, I learn through gritted teeth that giving power to bad intentioned people leads to bad results 🤬 My biggest hope is that younger people in general are not so easily bamboozled once they become engaged, and younger Maori in particular have been brought up & taught to not step back but step forward to protect their rights. The Kohanga Reo generation is a very different beast from their elders, who often prioritised respect & manaakitanga over upsetting perceived powerful people - both from natural good manners but also FEAR! Fear of upsetting those who might be able to make their lives worse.

Hopefully we now know that they WILL make your lives worse regardless of how YOU treat THEM, and I loved the recent Nga Puhi actions of leaving the Iwi Chairs meeting to make a point rather than allow Luxon et al to pretend they were genuinely "consulting", & turning up to Parliament in protest.

MORE OF THIS!

Yes the Nga Puhi actions were loud and clear. Luxon tried to spin it with nice words and corporate show, but most people know. And good on them for standing tall amidst all these clouds.

Sorry I couldn't bring something more positive Cindy. Thank you for sharing your insights too, I appreciate it.

July 3, 2023.

When MPs Seymour and Swarbrick discussed the residential tenancy market with former TV3 Breakfast host Ryan Bridge, Seymour made personal comments about her. He dropped his disarming smile and sat head down when she admonished him and gave Bridge pause.

Seymour, "Chlöe's nice, she'll smile, it'll sound great…" and he added ironically with hindsight "Their policies will have the opposite effect of what they promise."

She responded, "Can I just say, that is so deeply patronising...To say those things about me as an individual and I just have to say, David, whenever anything is lobbied in your direction that is the equivalence of that, you get incredibly defensive."

Swarbrick asked if the debate could get back on track to "the facts and the evidence that we're talking about".

I think this is the link

So Tui do you think there are more atlas followers than slimore. I refer to Costello, Reti, Bishop and slimy Brown in particular. Or are they just incompetent nasty bastards in their own right

Yes Bishop’s father is someone who helped set up Atlas’s Taxpayers Union. Even before Atlas TPU were taking money from tobacco. Bishop is as slimey as they come.

Costello is clearly corrupt and she was the Chair of TPU before becoming NZF’s MP and chosen one. Winston is dodgy and oversees two blatantly greedy arms.

Willis was parachuted into National from Atlas’s NZ Initiative. She’s dishonest and incompetent -her cancellation of InterIslander will cost NZ at least $1 BILLION WITHOUT A FERRY IN SIGHT

Reti is a Mormon who voted for conversion therapy. I’ve watched him in press conferences and he lies. Also as a doctor he downplayed tobacco. He’s disgusting.

I don’t believe Luxon is Atlas so much as he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Appears to have a deep seated inferiority complex masked with arrogance and hubris.

Kowtows to anyone who is wealthy and higher in the imaginary economic pecking order so appears like a good useful idiot.

Simeon Brown appears simple and childish with a power complex. Sad lot

That's a brilliant albeit depressing summary of who we have in power over us which is all the more galling given the slim majority that resulted in this rag tag coalition where the tail wags the head. I heard a little bit of an interview on RNZ while driving with a union guy who was pushing back against the ferry debacle. Unfortunately he was not the most articulate fella and Corrin Dann was doing his devil's advocate (I'm being kind) questioning and basically parroting the government line and saying surely they had no other option. Like I said I didn't hear it all but man I was wishing we had someone like you clearly and rationally exposing the Willis lies over that particular issue. As has been discussed on here before I just don't hear it read enough critique from our media on the Govt BS.

David, I wish I could help. I think I could help. I do think that those on the left are often not as ... slick - and that's a good thing, because why should people spend their energy and efforts to be masters at spin and deception.

BUT when we are faced with people who are masters at lies, then yes, it would help if more of us could be in a position to directly respond too.

Great piece MT. The irony of a govt acknowledging how shit the state were in dealing with abuse for the Abuse in State Care inquiry then turning around and doing it all over again. 🙄
