Tui, please take it as a given that I enjoy and look forward to your missives, I share them with 6 others.

Doing what you do would fry my pea brain, so I/we need people like you to collate and present information in a sound logical fashion.

In spite of my Scottish ancestry I was more than happy to spend some money with you

Keep on keeping on.

I enjoy your contributions. It is important that as many of us that see through the charlatans running Aotearoa New Zealand speak up and call them out at every turn. I only enjoy 1 paid subscriber to my substack and that was a voluntary subscription. A greater financial reward would be good, but that's not my reason for writing. Keep up the good work!

Tui, your words are inspirational in different ways, for me both as a "lost in the political wilderness" thinker, and as a writer myself, who has a music site on which I review classical performances and recordings - I don't seek any payment for the latter, except that organisations often give me reviewers'tickets which is a kind of "quid pro quo". I do admire your ability with words in terms of their focused simplicity and direction, and wish I could emulate the kind of strength that your "straight-from-the-shoulder" writing gives me.I look forward to reading your thoughts on so many things, and am happy to subscribe to your page to help you continue to illuminate the darkness in which we presently walk, in a world dominated by greed, and the stupidity that is generated by deceit. Thank you for the work you put into your writings - much appreciated!

I will certainly be doing a paid sub once I've got the mental bandwidth. My spouse goes in for emergency open heart surgery in the next couple of days, so my attention is with them for now.

James, no rush, and no need even. I am just hopeful for a smooth surgery and strong recovery. Thinking of you and yours, Tui.

Many thanks Tui! I got a pay rise recently (apparently the govt hasn't yet come for my department), so some of it is going to the Wellington City Mission for their food bank situation. But there's some of it is going on some substance and patreon subscriptions. On substack I also follow The End Is Naenae (too Hutt to Handle).

But yes, brain very focused on my beloved spouse rn.

Of course, James and please don't feel you need to support. I am also thinking I will donate a portion of proceeds to a charity too and I respect you a lot. I'm rooting for you guys and ... all the best.

Excellent and well put. Looks like you have at least two on here about to contribute. I've been following @nickskorero (for free) pretty much since he started and I respectfully suggest you have a look how he goes about sub raising. For advertising purposes Nick has become a force on X and insta and fB where I also follow his taake. I also follow, although I see now he has blocked me, right winger and another lawyer https://x.com/PronouncedHare. Power to your arm and I used to find half an hour's road work dealt to migraines - endorphins kick in

Tui, I’m really grateful that you offer a free subscription. Once this I’m able to work again I’ll be switching to a paid subscription. What you do is valuable and I will support your work financially when I can. Thank you for allowing people like me who genuinely can’t afford a subscription to be able to read your writing. I, for one, am more knowledgeable for it.

You are a good writer, Tui. I haven’t found another NZ writer of your genre who captivates my attention like you do. While I am aware that some of that is due to our similarity of opinions, that alone wouldn’t be enough to keep me coming back - especially now that I have to actively seek out your work on another platform. You have writing talent, as well as a knack for choosing the right stories at the right time.

I’ve been recovering from an mTBI (well, 3 in 8 weeks to be exact) and it’s been a long road back to some kind of normalcy. Reading and making sense of more complex information than the usual social media blurbs has been vital to my recovery. Your articles interest me and keep me reading, even on days when my brain is tired. That’s massive for me; you (and writers like you) have been instrumental to keeping me engaged. So when I say thanks, it’s deeply meant.

And now that I’ve embarrassed myself, I’m going to go read another one of your articles then share it on my socials. Sorry for the ramble, I need my own editor after the head injuries!

Actually, I am not crying, it's just the onion at my desk. Have a great day Melissa, and happy I can do anything at all for people like you who deeply matter. Cheers.

🙋🏾‍♀️I am here by way of your articles being shared by people I already follow on Substack, so obviously as I think highly of THEIR work the fact that they link to YOU is a good recommendation 💕 During many of my previous employments & helping out friends, I have done a lot of report writing & submissions etc. so your description of coming up with a finished article resonates deeply - I would never have any doubt about the amount of time & research it takes a conscientious writer to do their work.

Now that I've dipped my toes in the water of your knowledge pool, I look forward to seeing where it takes me in the next few weeks - the things you are concerned about also concern me, so good start 👍🏾
