The PMs arrogance at the press conference was absolutely disgusting. WTF tough on gangs so a 3 year old child being left alone for hrs is essentially "acceptable". If this is bought by the community then we can fully expect future commission of inquiry into continuing state abuse. FFS.

Absolutely depressing list of entitled ignorant and unacceptable behaviour by the COC. Without even touching on their efforts to make sure NZ endures a severe depression. Why are we having to endure this?

Would like to share this MT.

Good morning Rob, this one can be shared immediately.

BTW the other day NZ Herald ran headlines saying local Iwi would not support police and I also saw a partial segment in Parliament where Te Pati Maori criticised the way the police raids were conducted (and Mark Mitchell defended it)

Yesterday's press conference gave me greater clarity and context.

I think everyone agrees crime is not acceptable - and should be managed - but they may be exacerbating some root causes here.

💯 and no suprise there. This jack boot approach has never worked and will never work. And it occurs to me listening to Seymour refusing to ban swastikas and nazi salutes that they are white people symbols while the gang insignia are generally brown.

I'm happy to announce Seymour is an actual plonker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPi266P9U4w

More seriously still, gangs are an easy target and punching bag. Every government which wants to distract people to its greater aims needs a distraction. Furthermore, law and order is popular with their voters and they cheer on these strongman approaches.

A few more paving stones added to the road to serfdom. Where we will see, a few very wealthy and powerful people and organisation's (the landed gentry), a group of the slave owners cruel overseers (the govt of the day), and a whole bunch of uneducated cowering serfs obedient to the wims of their masters. Way past time for civil disobedience, criminal activity aside, have the gangs got it all wrong?

As for cluxon and his 'customers' shouldn't he be reminded that he is our employee and should be on his final written warning.

I guess Nark Snitch reckons that he don't have to resign because he only said he would resign if crime doesn't improve. Well crime has indeed improved, nevermind that under his watch, law and order has failed.

Thank you MT. More obfuscation and lies…. I did speak with my cousin who is a doctor recently and I asked, “do you think this is a manufactured crisis in health to make a case for privatisation?”. He said that the health system was “seriously broken” and that successive governments were responsible but implied that the current crisis could be taken advantage of to try to justify privatisation. It’s all so adversarial and we the people seem to get forgotten in this current game of politics. Luxons’ lack of care and compassion for a 3 year old being undoubtably and unnecessarily traumatised is evidence of this. No empathy for Palestinians either. Shame on them, they have lost their humanity!

There is some sociopathy at play I suspect, especially when we contrast it to who Luxon says he is as a person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKGd0VMzkBA

The ‘real’ Christian’s I know don’t even speak about their faith. They simply let their good actions speak for themselves. It seems that Christianity is often used as a mask

Yes it's a good point and he's not being a good ambassador either. I'm not sure what he is taught but it's clear from the way he responded in the interview, he has no intention of living his supposed "deep faith" i.e. he hasn't even tried.

This US evangelical money generating Christianity. Nothing to do with the true teachings of Christ at all.

Good point - I watched a US evangelical Minister once preach about how God wanted him to have the most expensive plane in the world and ... I think he actually got enough donations for something truly out of this world.

Incredibly sad really.

As to the health system, yes I agree - this wouldn't be an overnight under-investment issue but they have:

1/ Intentionally underfunded it ie. they knew its needs earlier but refused to update their spreadsheet

2/ Manufactured a crisis by claiming the deficit was new (when Luxon admitted he knew of it in October 2023 - a point the news media completely ignores)

3/ Privatisation will make some people very wealthy

4/ They are spending billions on roads, and cumulatively on tax cuts for the wealthy (including trusts), tobacco companies, private charter school operators like Alwyn Poole etc.

We have the money. This government just has a different agenda, in my view.

Kind of baffling the news media just rolls over like this, but it's all corporate driven isn't it?

Last night 1News repeated the 22% Maths curriculum number without any commentary - despite it being their own journalist that discovered and then reported on Luxon and Stanford's "misinformation"

Yes I very much feel that too MT. Like I must have sleeping most of my life or somehow living behind a veil of delusion. Its very depressing and makes me very angry to watch this catastrophic destruction of everything I value in a social democracy being deconstructed.

Erica, is seen by the Boardroom as acceptable. Well when as you have Mountain Tui, put her under the microscope of examining rhetoric against action, she is as woeful as the rest. It all becomes degrees of duplicity and arrogance. I had a vision of a word cloud for Luxon. It began I, followed by sorted selfish shallow detached weak corporate austerity authoritarian ego inflexible destructive spiteful. I tried to think of a few positives clean busy and then came another picture ... Aotearoa New Zealand in a heap like rubble and he is placing the flag of another nation on top.

Patricia, yes I do believe Stanford benefits from more egregious matters at hand and I think there is so much thrown out everyday, even the egregious matters can only be lightly covered i.e. there is some intentionality in their strategy.

I do recall teachers and principals did try to speak up, but they have been drowned out by other noise...

Which is a pity because education is genuinely important - and so is integrity.

I like your word cloud - I could see it as I was reading it. I think it's very important for people to realise Luxon is just the figurehead here too - it's the entire ACT and National that we are seeing in full display.

🙋🏽‍♀️Pretty telling that I am using the cluster-#@!* of the US election (meaning that it is even CLOSE!) to distract me from the current cluster-#@!* at home eh? 😢 I was going to disappear into limited internet land & emerge after the results were in, but then I thought it was better to get caught up in the POSSIBILITY of a good result,🤞🏽 than wallow in the current REALITY of the bad result playing out every day in Aotearoa. 🤷🏾‍♀️ It is exhausting but necessary to keep calling this all out so thanks once again - corporate media is rapidly losing legitimacy when they mis-report or ignore blatant lies, so we increasingly rely on sharing the info independents bring to us to try and counter this so we are ready to vote accordingly when the time comes.💪🏽🤞🏽
