As if the Herald wasn’t bad enough - make way for the rich pricks…

What struck me is how much our National led Government coalition policies prioritise and reflect the will and desires of these “rich pricks....”

Aue. Add NZME to the boycott list.

Such a worry about allowing more wealthy people into our country whose views will most likely share those on the right. That someone with a big investment in NZME could dramatically influence the discourse here is a huge concern.

Note above Nick Mowbray also having a go at Simon Wilson's article. Wilson is the only person on NZ Herald I would rate.

Has the satyrist Steve Braunias gone from the Herald stable. The Gisborne Herald disappeared into it late last year

Ganesh Ahirao writes on his Substack this morning, of how the social contract in Aotearoa has become perverted and makes some radical suggestions. Well worth reading.

I like Ganesh. I saw it come through but hadn’t had time to read.

I’ll take a look now.

🤔 Your advice to be ready to "unplug" gaining more credibility 🤷 Don't support NZME knowingly (read if others quote something) but the question arises once again - where are the "rich" pro-democracy oligarchs when you need them⁉️ Why is it only selfish rich prick$ who buy up media to push their selfish rich prick agenda 🤬⁉️

In 2022 I had some fun "reporting" to NZME that their masthead had been copied by a new online magazine called NZNE including letter design and colours. NZME thanked me and I waited for a change in masthead. Now the competitor is in the NZME boardroom it follows their News Talk radio and Herald newspaper will shed staff. As you note, "In 2023, Business Desk reported Grenon was a paid election promoter in New Zealand, linked to the NZ News Essentials website, which was a “site dedicated to attacking the then [Labour/Green Party] Government." God save NZ because Grenon and ACT will not

So you were that hero. Agree it’s very disturbing

Authors like yourself are the heroes. Please pace your good self and avoid burn out. The stories of greed and corruption just abound and are rarely put in front of the mums and dads struggling to put food on the table. The Māori Party reached the general public with its Treaty response to ACT. For me an encouraging sign of push back and National now declining in the polls.

Interested in the comment by Infideliter about Teacher Unions. Before the 2017 elections it was pretty clear that National was planning to smash the teacher unions if they got back in. That plan has not been so overt this time round, except for charter schools legislation/regulation sidelining unions and if I remember right, outlawing collective bargaining.

And ACT. They are openly opposed to unions.

The modi operandus of Atlas Network is to smash workers right. Let me see if I can get more on that comment.

Wondering if they’ll find a way to turn the lunches debacle into a union issue, also the literacy/numeracy test problems could be turned into an anti union cause, or am I too cynical (?). https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/543511/new-ncea-tests-failing-students-in-low-income-schools-principals

You're not cynical at all.

This government has set up nearly everything it's done e.g. manufactured a Health NZ financials deficit, after underfunding it, as an excuse to privatise health (while saying there's effectively unlimited money for prisons)

They've effectively stopped state housing builds by paying Bill English $500,000 to write an "independent" report that echoed what Chris Bishop said.

They paid Sunny Kashaul's committee up to $3.6m to come up with ideas that they asked for.

And it’s happened. Quote from Hoskings (thanks MT) “Do we actually have a problem here or is this a pile on from the unions, the teachers and the media to make David Seymour look bad?”
