As Robyn Williams said " Politicians should wear sponsorship jackets, like Nascar drivers. Then we would know who's paying them"

I'd like to see their reaction if we sent them some! Ciggy adverts for the NZ1 lady, gun adverts for the ACT lady, Women's Refuge ones for the absolutely useless Nat lady - Nicola Grigg.

The coalition’s ‘Operation Epic Failure’ has something for everyone. Leadership failure. Environmental protection failure. Economic failure. Health system failure. Infrastructure failure. Financial failure, Political failure, and most of all, moral and ethical failure. The list of failure and own goals from this incompetent government is endless, but there’s a big BUT. And that is, you can spin some of the people some of the time, but you cannot spin all of the people all of the time. The writing is on the wall for Luxon. His spin cycle just clicked off and it’s time to hang the washing out to dry. National FAFO’d around with Luxon and now they’re watching their ‘chicken’ come home to roost.

I’m actually smiling, stop it mate, that’s schadenfreude. I know, I know it is, but it’s delicious. F..k, I’m singing now, …..wait for it, yes, I’m bloody dancing. Whoo hoo.

Nice compilation MT. Definitely a contender for your greatest hits. 👍👍👍

I’m in Australia taking a quick break from driving my bus. But this post from you Mountain Tūi and your comment James both lift and inspire me.

So much so, that I danced a wee jig inside my bus! No Australians were harmed by this behaviour 😉

Good on you Brian. 👏

👍💯 - the ONLY caution is that surely the current pretend-PM is the best foil for the Opposition going into the election? Can't be anyone more favourable to them waiting in the wings ⁉️

It's a shame the Pew Centre research didn't include NZ to see how positively we few our compatriots - it would be even more useful to see how that changes in time, and whether the billionaires can sow discord between us like they have done in the USA

Yes they cover major countries, NZ usually seen as smaller. I used Australia as a benchmark at about 15% but that's still a lot if you think about it and as someone who hangs out in right wing circles and views their content a lot, the same tactics are widely at play

Martin Garrood's avatar

I know we are smaller, but we are still part of the OECD so should make any top 30 list - really annoys me when we get missed off things as looks like people are saying NZ is insignificant - it isn't! Right?

Mountain Tūī's avatar

I find every country thinks they are important but in the greater scheme of things, small countries are usually seen as less significant, unless they have an oversized influence in some way eg. oil, finances, innovation - something that makes them stand out.

We got Hobbiton!

Is NZME aligned with the ATLAS group?

Has enough right wing nutters working there to make me wonder.

Mountain Tūī's avatar

Based on prior reports, NZME is largely corporate owned e.g. Citibank etc

Then you have James Jim Grenon who was apparently linked to an alternative news site heavy on anti-vax, anti-Treaty, anti-trans etc. but that's just what I read

Then you have National's fix it man at the helm.

Hmm...

This from the PSA

"Local right-wing think tanks the Taxpayers’ Union and the New Zealand Initiative are both official partners of Atlas. Atlas ideology also closely aligns with our current government, and its rush of regressive and reactionary policies."

It's on line and Atlas has a strangle hold on mainstream messaging

🤗 I'm always "poll sceptic" but being as it's the right/centre right that crow the most when they are UP then I'm allowed to enjoy it/believe it when they are DOWN 🤷🥳🥳🥳

Sad that the US military = Trump regime in their despicable actions these days after bombing a girl's school in Iran 😢, and a helpless ship that was there at the invitation of Trump's "friend" India 🤬 To be fair I accept the girl's school was simply incompetence at some level (apparently it wasn't far from some Iran intelligence HQ or similar, so bad intel or bad accuracy??? I remember hearing someone's account of being in Holland during the WWII and the populace hiding when they heard a US fighter coming in (they were experts at picking the sounds of engines from enemies or friends) but staying out when it was the UK pilots?? As in who knows WHAT the Americans would hit or jettison their bombs over civilians, but the Poms were precise & civilians were generally safe) The US military of course has a bad rap for atrocities or incompetence in EVERY theatre of war they get involved in historically, but now with the permission structure of the mad orange king & the unhinged "Sec of WAR" declaring there are no longer any "rules of engagement" holding them back... 🤷👿

Happy to say my ears/eyes don't get polluted by these "news" propaganda outlets like Fox in the US or NZME in Aotearoa - thanks MT & others I follow across the webisfare for reporting back so I still keep in the loop 🤗 Apparently currently Fox News has been having coniptions about how to handle reporting on the various Maga people/events like the Iran war (no more wars Trumpland) ; Kristi Noem before the various Congressional Committees; Hegseth & his bizarro standups; and now they will have hearings for Markwayne Mullins to replace Noem, when the Dems will have a go at possibly another contender for "the most stupid MAGAt" to stand in front of a microphone 🥳 If anyone DOESN'T watch Seth Meyers "A Closer Look" segments, last night (previous night?) on Markwayne glitching over the Iran war/not war was epic! I'm sure he and his writers will be having a gleeful time envisioning easy content for their jokes for the forseeable future 😂 and can't wait for Jimmy Kimmel & Stephen Colbert to jump on board now that he will be on display more 😁

Off to catch up on the goss with the Kakapo - they grow so fast & morph into cugly little goofballs (cute+ugly) before growing into the magnificent adults like Rakiura the live-cam queen, while our Little Blue Penguins in Oamaru are getting their adult plumage, and our Albatross chick is still white & fluffy but being left on her own mostly as BOTH parents have to go get enough food for a growing baby of that magnificence 🫂 We are so privileged to have live-cams of nature, especially of our indigenous taonga 👍 - helps to keep me sane in insane times 💛 (and provides a valid justification for have multiple screens showing at once 😁)
