I watched this this morning. It's brilliant. That clip where he is lying to her in Parliament is made all the more stark because she's just shown that he knows exactly what she's talking about. I really appreciated the interviews where the link between getting rid of indigenous protections and corporate exploitation is made explicit. Overall, just a great piece of journalism.
Reading it at the time made my blood run cold as their association with Carole Cadwalladr’s exposure of their Facebook campaign was exposed by her.

All these organisations most likely came from a well spring of the original alt right wing network The Mont Peleron Society of which a previous ACT parliamentary figure was a member.

Chris Hipkins in a speech this week alludes to their power when he said” Democracy world wide is hanging by a thread and this government is talking a razor blade to it.”
Time for all to wake up if we want to continue living in a democracy.
The litmus test for me is the degradation of the lines between governance and management by this parliament.
What the world is learning (yet again) in the most arduous, stressful, and intimidating way, is where there is smoke, there is fire. Here in New Zealand, David Seymour represents the catalyst for both ignition and combustion. He is his own fire triangle.
Seymour, bathing in the malevolent afterglow of his misguided right-wing institutionalisation, has snuck under the radar of the New Zealand political ecosystem. Using his clownish twerking performance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’, all-round slapstick behaviour, and bonhomie schtick, he set out to manipulate New Zealanders into thinking he was a benign, harmless, well-meaning libertarian. A nothing to see here, move along strategy.
Unfortunately, ACT, is not acting anymore. Seymour has well and truly dropped any sense of pretence that he wants to serve New Zealanders. Fully embracing his inner right-wing libertarianism, he has finally come out of his crypt and risked exposure to full sunlight.
Mihingarangi Forbes and her authentic Kate Sheppard DNA (Kate is a relative) shines in this documentary speaking truth to power. And it’s truth we desperately need to resist Seymour’s malignant ideology before it can metastasise any further into society.
During the 2023 coalition negotiations, Seymour detected a gap in Christopher Luxon’s political proficiency that he could drive a London bus through, and he did. Luxon’s incompetence and ineptitude comes to fruition on 31 May 2025, when David Breen Seymour becomes the Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand.

I have to say I'm neither shocked nor surprised. The breadcrumb trails he leaves are clear and consistent: whether it's his tacit condoning of behaviour in Young Act, the entire Jago situation, his denials about the Frontier years, his bald-faced lying when confronted with known facts. The intent of the TPB to incite civil war doesn't seem that big of a stretch.
However, what we're hearing today about passing the RSB under urgency must be his most cherished fever dream come true. No chance of stopping him now. It's a done deal. Welcome to our neoliberal-forever future.
